Womens Golf 1994-2014

Susan Watkins played for Pat Weis from 1979 to 1981. She then served as Weis' assistant from 1981 to 1992 before taking over the head coaching job in 1993.

Susan was on the Longhorns' tennis team in 1977, but a knee injury forced her to change her sport to golf. Starting in 1978, she received golf instruction from Harvey Penick and eventually developed enough golf skills to walk onto Weisโ€™s Texas golf team. This was followed by years as a golf pro at some prestigious country clubs.

Coach Susan Watkins  1993- 2007

Following Weisโ€™ retirement, Susan Watkins became the second head coach in the history of the UT Womenโ€™s Golf program. In 10 years, her teams finished in the top 10 eight times, including one second-place finish in 2002 and a third-place finish on three other occasions. As Coach, the Horns won four SWC championships and the first Big 12 Championship in 1997.
