Falk battled health problems in retirement but always maintained a cheerful disposition. He was single with no children.

Austin - Born October 10,1962 in Dallas and passed away in his sleep May 27, 2021 at the age of 58.
Larry retired from the University of Texas in 2014 as the Assistant Athletics Director after 33 years. He was always there to help a Texas Longhorn and was known affectionately as "Big Larry". He earned the "T" letters in 1983 and 1984 was made a member of the Hall Of Honor in 2013.
He is preceded in death by his father Harold B. Falk; and survived by his mother Judith Falk, his aunt, Audrey Falk, his uncle Jeff Falk and wife Barbara; and their daughters Stacie Falk Goldman and husband Marc; and Jennifer Falk Kashar and husband Mark; and this includes many cousins and family plus a great amount of loving friends.

Long-time UT Athletics staffer Larry Falk passes away
Falk served 33 years at UT and was inducted into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor in 2013.
AUSTIN, Texas — Larry Falk, a long-time University of Texas Athletics Department staffer and Texas Athletics Hall of Honor inductee, passed away on Wednesday in Austin. Falk was 58 years old.
After a decade with the football team, he was promoted to operations manager of the facilities department before he settled in as the assistant athletics director for operations in 2007, a position he held for eight years until his retirement in 2014. Falk was inducted into the Longhorn Hall of Fame in 2013.
I will miss “Large Larry”! When he was a student manager, Larry was always a big help to me in the equipment room. When we traveled to away games, Larry was the only student manager who would always ride with me in the equipment truck. One trip I’ll never forget is when he and I drove the equipment truck to the Sun Bowl in El Paso. On that long,long drive, we got to know each other real well and became better friends. RIP mi buen amigo!
Falk served a total of 33 years on the Forty Acres (1981-2014). He began as a football student manager and earned "T" letters as an undergraduate in 1983 and 1984. Falk went on to work for one year as an assistant equipment manager before assuming the responsibility of equipment manager in 1986.

Falk held that position through the 1990 season before transitioning into the UT Athletics facilities department in 1991. He served as operations manager until his promotion to Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Operations in 2007. Falk remained in that role until retiring in 2014.
A key cog in the operations and management of two of the Longhorns traditional annual events – the Red River Showdown and Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays - Falk accompanied the Texas Football teams to 22 bowl games and was the point person on travel for the Texas Baseball team to 10 College World Series appearances. He also served as tournament director for nearly 20 NCAA Baseball regionals and super regionals in Austin and was a 20-year assistant director of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

Falk accompanied Texas teams to 22 bowl games, including the 2005 national title win over USC, and was also on hand for 10 trips to the College World Series.
Falk, known for his gregarious personality and his large frame — earning him the nickname “Big Larry” on campus — was hired in 1981 and served as a student manager for the football team before going on to become the equipment manager.

Falk could often be spotted tooling between campus athletic facilities on his golf cart with his huge key ring dangling.
“He was always at work,” former Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said Thursday. “He was the first guy there every morning and the last guy to leave at night. He had a key to everything. He knew more about what was going on than anybody on staff because he talked to everybody — players, coaches and administrators. He loved everybody.”
Former Texas football and track star Eric Metcalf said he spoke with Falk last week before Falk had entered the hospital for a foot procedure.
“We were really close,” Metcalf said Thursday. “The university was like Larry’s kid. He was part of the campus and the whole program. It was his life."
When Metcalf signed an athletic scholarship to play football and run track at Texas in the mid-1980s out of Arlington, Va., he struck up a friendship with Big Larry.
“He did whatever he could to help people out, especially players like me,” Metcalf said. “He really took me in as a teenage kid from out of state when I moved to Austin. He made me feel at home. We stayed close over the years."
