Former Longhorn Defensive defensive coordinator Greg Robinson dies at 70

Early in his career, Robinson established his reputation as a tremendous defensive coordinator. Robinson’s coaching career, which began in 1975, spanned 40 years at the high school , college, and professional, levels. 

He is best known as the defensive coordinator for the 1997 and 1998 Denver Broncho Super Bowl champions.

At the college level he spent 4 years as the head coach of Syracuse, and stints as a assistant coach for  Texas (twice), Michigan, San Jose State, UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, North Carolina State, and Pacific.

Robinson was mostly a defensive coach, though he did spend a season as UCLA’s offensive coordinator in 1989. "I draw from a lot of things," Robinson said when he was hired in Ann Arbor in 2009. "You pirate, you see something somebody's doing, and that's a good thought. You have to see if you can incorporate something in there. I have people I talk to throughout the offseason when you're trying to learn. It's as much about understanding the offense, and that's an advantage of mine that I've coached on the offensive side of the ball."

In 2004 Robinson was the co-defensive coordinator of the Longhorn team that beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl.
