12/26/2020 Updates on service for Lionel Garr.

Hi I came across this website and wanted to let you all know that there’s updated information for Lionel Garr’s service. Please see the following The venue for Lionel Garr’s homegoing service has changed to Lottie and Arthur Temple Civic Center 601 Dennis, Diboll,TX 75941. The times for the service have remained the same.

The viewing will be Wednesday, December 30th from 10 am to 11 am. Due to covid a private ceremony for the family will be held immediately after the viewing. His interment will be at Sweet Union Cemetery - 3008 FM 1247, Alto TX 75925. He will be laid to rest with his father Joe Lee Garr and his Grandparents.

Billy, I’m not sure if you heard or not, but Lionel Garr passed away suddenly on Monday. He was an OL in the early 2000s.

Great guy and a good friend.

He was standing in line at CVS and had a massive heart attack, was pronounced dead in the ambulance.

With heavy hearts, we announce Lionel Lee Garr's death in Houston, Texas. He passed away on December 20, 2020, at the age of 38. Lionel Garr was a 6-6, 330-pound Offensive Tackle from Diboll, TX. who committed to the Texas Longhorns.

Where do I even begin??? I love you, and I’m thankful for your existence. You were truly an Angel on earth, and it breaks my heart into so many pieces that this is where we are right now today. This was not the plan, but the thing is, it’s God’s plan, and we were only on borrowed time with you. You gifted us the most precious gift of all, Chase Lee Garr, and for that, I’m forever grateful. It saddens me because I know how much you loved him and he you, and now we have to live life with reminding Chase of your legacy when in all actuality, it would have been better if you were just here with us on this side to carry out that legacy. Please don’t worry; I got Chase and Jourdan. My sister and nephew will definitely grieve you tremendously over the days to come; however, I will be there the ENTIRE step of the way to carry them through. I love you, brother in law but I’m so glad I could spend so great moments with you before you said your final goodbye. Love you!

You were a big part of my Houston village/extended family. Thank you for the memories. We've had fun times and deep conversations. Much respect for the amount of impact you've had on so many. Telling me stories about you being recruited to play football, you made sure to tell me you were blessed. I'm blessed by that experience amongst others. Rest well dear friend.

To Our Dearest Uncle Garr! We have too many memories to share. . . From playing flag football at TSU, to watching our boys play and grow up, to having a ‘fake’ birthday party just because you said we didn’t need a reason to have cake and ice cream. For all of these reasons and numerous others, your legacy will always live with us. But one of my fondest memories of you was watching you interact with all the kids at the school when dropping Chase off. The kids loved you as they were met with so much warmth and kindness— that’s the part about you I think we will miss most. I posted a picture of ‘The Boys’ because this is how and why we will press on in your memory. We will ensure that Chase and the others always remember you as a hard-working, kind, and loving Man.
